Election - November 8, 2022

The Renewal of the Martinsburg Police Levy will be for five (5) fiscal years beginning respectively on July 1, 2024; July 1, 2025; July 1, 2026; July 1, 2027; and July 1, 2028.  The levy renewal rates will remain the same as the previous five-year levy rates. The current City of Martinsburg Excess Police Levy expires June 30, 2024.

  • Martinsburg Police Levy

    November 8, 2022. Same tax rate. Funds 9 officers. Funds public safety services.

  • Funds 9 City Officers

    Police Levy Renewal funds 20% of officers, including our SRO at Martinsburg High.

  • K-9 Support Units

    Police Levy Renewal funds 3 K-9 Support Units.

  • Downtown Patrol

    Police Levy Renewal funds dedicated Downtown Patrol Units.

  • Drug Enforcement

    Police Levy Renewal funds aggressive drug enforcement - including CIRT Team.

  • Martinsburg Initiative

    Police Levy Renewal funds model opioid prevention and social worker program.

  • Handle with Care

    Informed response to child maltreatment and children's exposure to violence.

  • Equipment and Vehicles

    Police Levy Renewal funds equipment, vehicles and incidental items.

    November 8, 2022 Election

    The Police Levy will appear on the November 8, 2022, General Election Ballot for City of Martinsburg residents. Early voting starts October 26.

  • Compilation of MPD officers on the job
    $1,560,000 Annually

    Funds generated are to maintain 9 officers currently funded by the levy. Approximate amount generated over 5-year period is $7.8 million.

  • Bicycle Officer at Public Gathering
    Tax rate remains the same.

    Average residential property pays $63 a year or 17 cents per day. The police levy is 10.5 cents per $100 of assessed value.
