Planning Commission

The Planning Commission comprises nine members who undertake long-range visioning for the development of the City of Martinsburg. The commission oversees the processes of:

  • Site Plans
  • Large-scale development
  • Subdivisions
  • Land use
  • Rezoning
  • Zoning Ordinance amendments
  • Street and alley conveyances
  • Stormwater management
  • Maps (parcels, streets, zoning districts, floodplains, school zones, capital projects, etc.)
  • Interpretation of City of Martinsburg Zoning Ordinance

Planning Commission applications include: Site Plans, Subdivisions, Map Amendments, and Text Amendments. For further explanation on each application, click on the applicable link. Applications are to be submitted to the City Planner's office no later than the specified deadline date posted for each month's meeting. A chart of these deadline dates is available by clicking on the Deadline Dates link below. Please note the deadline dates for the different applications varies.

Those who serve on the Planning Commission give of their time freely and serve without compensation.
